Ccotos and Ticonata 2 Days
Day 1: Puno - Lake Titicaca - Uros floating Islands - Ccotos and Ticonata Communities
Pick up from your hotel at 08:00 a.m. and transfer to the port
We will take our motor-boat ride on Lake Titicaca to visit the uros floating islands. For hundreds of years the livelihood of this tribe is based on the benefits of a unique plant: the totora reed (scyrpus totora). They use it to build their homes, boats and even the floating islands they live on, periodically adding new layers of reeds. They also use it in their highly developed weaving.
You will have time to share with the people the Uros, and then we will continue to Ccotos Community.
In Ccotos community, we will appreciate the Inca’s costums that still stay, the behavior and the interrelations of the residents. We will have lunch , it is prepared by the residents.
After that, we will take our motor boat and visit the Ticonata Communnity, where we are welcomed by the community and accommodated in the eco - village, with conical houses & thatched roofs made as a remembrance of the pre Incan houses in the region the conical shape and the thatched roofs give the island a unique character. Visit the local museum to see the mummies recently found, Later, we will take a short hike to the ancient ritual place, at the top of the hill, even today it is still used by the locals in authentic ancestral ceremonies and the sunsets from up there are simply spectacular. What makes this tourism based project a genuine sustainable project is that it involves people from the community and they all share the work and the benefits equally. We will savour a typical dinner, then sit around the bonfire. There are few places where you can breathe the essence of a culture, nevertheless Ticonata is one of these rare gems. Here, one of the wise men will tell us about their magical world and traditions, daily life and customs. All of this, while enjoying the Milky Way and other constellations make for an unforgettable night in the Andes. Overnight at the Ticonata homestay.
Day 2: Ticonata Community - Puno
Breakfast. Free time in the morning (You may have chance to practice fishing or birdwatching activities ). After that we will comeback to Puno by motorboat.
You will arrive to Puno at 11:00 am aprox.
